British India and the "Great Rebellion"
This site provides a British overview of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, also known as the First War of Indian Independence, which began "in May 1857 [when] soldiers of the Bengal army shot their British officers, and marched on Delhi. Their mutiny encouraged rebellion by considerable numbers of Indian civilians." Includes a short bibliography and links to related sites (some broken).
